National Juried Multimedia Fine Art Exhibit
Opening February 13
This
16th Annual International Juried Art Show
exhibit held in Elk River, Minnesota was open to paintings,
drawings, digital and hand-pulled prints, mixed media,
fiber, batik, photography (not digitally altered or photo of
work in another medium), digital (including digitally altered
photographs), ceramics, glass, sculpture, and sequential art.
I feel fortunate and privileged to be a part of this international exhibit.
The photograph displayed below that was selected by the jurors (2) for this exhibit was taken in Paris, France during September 2010.
The lighting was of course poor in the Metro underground station but I had taken several photographs prior to the Metro train arriving.
The lens setting for this photograph was 10mm....quite wide, but that setting was needed to created the dynamic view.
The photograph was converted to black and white format.

There were two jurors for this event.
Lyndel King, juror, director and chief curator at the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota.
Also, jurying was Barbara Schultz who developed MCAD’s current comic art
curriculum and MCAD’s Distant Learning comic art courses.
More than 850 individual entries were submitted by more than 280 artists.
The two jurors selected about 220 pieces of art work for this large exhibit.
More than $10,000 in awards were presented at the opening February 13, 2011 in Elk River, Minnesota.
Traveling Show
Between thirty-two and forty pieces of art representative of the
show will be selected to be shown during the month of April in
downtown Minneapolis at Thrivent for Lutherans, a location
that provides excellent exposure and outstanding sales
potential.
